Recruitment and Appointment Pause Guidance

The approval process for hiring and appointment transactions has been temporarily adjusted. Additional approvals may be required depending on the transaction being processed across all funding sources.
Identify Required Approvals
Find out whether your transaction will require additional approval prior to submitting actions through the normal workflow.
Approval from the President or Provost
- Chair stipends over 10%
- New postings or exceptions (unless specified otherwise)
- Promotions
- Rehired retirees
- Temporary salary increase
- Temporary hires
- Within grade salary increases over 10%
Approval from the Vice President, Dean or Unit Business Officer
- Research foundation sponsored
- Research foundation sponsored Postdoctoral Scholar positions
- Academic Scholars
Approval Not Needed
- Adjuncts instructor new hires and reappointments
- Also receives, chair stipends (less than 10%), and extra service
- Classified staff returning to a contingent position
- Classified traineeship advancement
- Extension on temporary workers
- Fee based appointments
- Increasing the FTE for part-time staff
- Reappointment for current employees
- Reclassification of positions
- Sabbatical and Title F will proceed as normal
- Salary increases that are contractual for faculty promotions and tenure attainment
- Service awards to permanent professionals, tenured faculty, and part-timers at 8 years of service that receive a $500 increase
- Summer appointments (state and RF)
- Supplemental payments to state employees utilizing UBF funds when it matches customary practice for the position type
- TAs/GAs/RAs and students
- Within grade increases after a central HR review

- Attach signed form to the ePTF that correlates with the transaction
- Route ePTFs through the appropriate approval authority workflow
