What Will Happen If You Do Not Return to a Benefits Eligible Position?

If you do not return to a benefits eligible position, your health insurance will end September 14, 2022 at midnight. Information about enrolling in COBRA, which allows you to continue your coverage beyond this date, will automatically be sent to your home address by the New York State Department of Civil Service, Employee Benefits Division. If you would like to enroll in COBRA, you will have 60 days after the date of notification to return the forms to the Department of Civil Service.

  • Check with your department if you are not sure of your appointment status.
  • Employee Benefits Division, COBRA administrator may be reached at 1-800-833-4344.
Special Deduction Considerations

If all summer monies are not collected in your final spring paychecks, you will be billed for the remaining balance by the Department of Civil Service, Employee Benefits Division.

If you have a summer appointment, it is possible your summer payments may have deductions. If this happens, you will receive a credit.
