Aug. 27, 2021: Student Vaccination Email to Faculty

Dear Faculty, 

The FDA granted full approval of the COVID-19 vaccine on Aug. 23, 2021. All students attending a SUNY institution in the fall 2021 semester and thereafter must either receive a COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved exemption. Students are required to submit confirmation of full vaccination, confirmation of a first dose in the vaccination series, or a request for exemption review by Aug. 30, 2021, which is seven days from the date of FDA approval. 

Students who do not comply with this requirement will be dropped or resigned from all courses with an in-person component, including any corequisite courses with an in-person component. Students who submit confirmation of a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine must submit confirmation of full vaccination by Sept. 27, or they will be resigned from all courses with an in-person component.

We encourage you to monitor your class roster frequently. Students who have been dropped or resigned from your course(s) should not be permitted to continue participating in class activities. 

Students may contact you wishing to complete their course remotely. You are under no obligation to provide a remote option for an in-person class. If you choose to allow a remote option for completing course requirements, you must work with your department to create a new class section with a remote instruction mode. The department must then submit an exception registration form for the student(s).

To date, more than 94% of registered students are compliant with UB’s vaccination policy, and more are submitting proof of vaccination every day. We appreciate your support as we work to implement policies and procedures that protect the health and safety of our community.
