Reaching Others

Directions

  1. To begin using UB Explorer, download the Unity 3D Web Player by clicking on the “Download the player now” button and following the directions for your computer. You will only have to install this player the first time you use UB Explorer.
  2. You are now ready to explore one of our three campuses – North, South or Downtown.
    • Launch: To begin, just click the launch button under the campus that you wish to explore.  You'll be ready to go once the download is complete, which will take less than a minute.
    • Navigation: Before you begin exploring, let’s go over some basic, helpful navigational information.
      • Navigation Box. On the right-hand side of your monitor screen you will see a variety of navigation tools to help you move around each of our campuses. The best way to see what each one does is to jump right in and try them.  In no time, you’ll be moving throughout the campus. If you want the navigation box to disappear/appear, just click on the blue band and it will tab in and out.
      • Arrow Keys. You may also use the keyboard to maneuver around the campus. Again, give them a try and see where they take you.
      • Movement keys
      • Map. UB Explorer features a map you will see at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen when you visit each campus.  A blue box appears on the map to show you where you are on the campus.  Just like the navigation box, you can make the map smaller/larger by clicking on it.
    • Options: You have two options for exploring each campus.
      • Self-Guided Exploration. Using the navigational tools described above, click on the "self-guided" button in the upper left-hand corner of the screen and create your own path around campus!
      • Pre-Determined Exploration. If you’d like us to do the driving, select one of our pre-determined preferences located on the upper left-hand side of the screen and sit back and relax. When you are ready to move on, select the “next building” button that will appear in the top portion of your monitor screen.
    • Buildings: From the outside, a building is bricks and mortar. It’s the programs and activities inside each of our buildings that make our campuses come alive, and UB Explorer is designed to show you this information.
      • Self-Guided. During your self-guided exploration, you can stop at any of our campus buildings and see the activities that occur inside. Use your mouse to move the cursor arrow over a building that you are interested in and single-click your mouse to see a brief description of the activities that occur inside that building.
      • Pre-Determined. If you’re letting us do the driving, we will automatically stop at a variety of buildings and provide you with key information regarding each one.
      • I Know the Name. If you know the name of the building you want to go to, place your cursor over its name in the “choose a building box” on the left-hand side of the screen and single-click—hang on, our express service will take you directly there.
      • I Need to Know More. Sometimes the CliffsNotes version is not enough. If that’s the case, just click on any of the highlighted words within the building boxes and a full Web page with more detailed information will appear. To go back to UB Explorer, close the pop-up Web page.
