At University Communications, we coordinate communications
efforts across UB, working with partners at all levels of the
university to develop projects that meet the needs of both internal
and external audiences. Our services include:
Successful communications initiatives require research and
strategic planning. University Communications applies both to its
projects and to its consultative work with units at the
University Communications’ Media Relations team works closely with the media to identify newsworthy campus initiatives and research by our faculty, staff and students. We arrange press conferences, locate appropriate multimedia, and help our faculty, staff and students to prepare for interviews and manage issues that may be of interest to the press.
University Communications oversees UB's top level Web presence
and is responsible for setting online communications standards and
best practices for the university. In addition, UC is leading,
coaching and providing direct support for units engaged in the
Communications Transformation (DCT), including user support for
the UB Content Management System (UBCMS).
In the event of an emergency, University Communications will work with University Police and other campus officials to provide timely, pertinent information to the campus community through the Emergency website, MyUB, UB Alert email and text messages, social media, and other outlets.
University Communications provides comprehensive consultation
services to many departments to help them achieve their marketing
and communications goals.
The Visual Communications group executes professional-quality design across all media, collaborating with partners across campus to create communication solutions for targeted audiences. Additionally, the group develops and shares visual standards, tools and templates via the online Communications Toolbox and supports the university’s trademarks and licensing program.
The Editorial group develops concepts, creates strategies and
researches, writes and edits communication products for print and
Web. Additionally, the group develops and shares editorial
standards, tools and templates via the online Communications
University Communications provides photographic expertise for
the entire university through photography assignments, stock
photography and creative consultations. UC curates a large
collection of free-to-use images of campus buildings, people and
events on the UB Photo
