The Office of University Communications supports UB’s highest-priority communication needs. We are able to allocate about 10,000 hours per year to new initiatives and projects that are aligned closely to the university’s strategic plan and that provide the best ROI.
Most of our time (about 48,000 of our total capacity of 63,600
hours) goes toward ongoing functions, such as working with the news
media, producing UB Reporter and UB Today, and other

Our annual workplan is created in consultation with key leaders of the university and is approved by the Vice President.
University Communications engages in an annual strategic
planning process that results in a set project plan for the
calendar year. This process includes measuring the project time we
have to allocate in addition to the base work we are responsible
for day to day in support of the university. We also are charged
with anticipating the communication needs of the entire campus and
individual departments, units or areas that are embarking on major
communication initiatives. This plan is reviewed and approved
by our parent unit Vice President and acts as our project guide
