New Initiatives

The Division of University Communications supports UB’s highest-priority communication needs.  We are able to allocate about 10,000 hours per year to new initiatives and projects that are aligned closely to the university’s strategic plan.

Most of our time (about 48,000 of our total capacity of 63,600 hours) goes toward ongoing functions, such as working with the news media, producing UB Reporter and UB Today, and other university-wide publications, social media channels and websites.

Our annual workplan is created in consultation with key leaders of the university and is approved by the Vice President.

New Initiatives Project Work Plan

University Communications engages in an annual strategic planning process that results in a set project plan for the calendar year. This process includes measuring the project time we have to allocate in addition to the base work we are responsible for day to day in support of the university. We also are charged with anticipating the communication needs of the entire campus and individual departments, units or areas that are embarking on major communication initiatives.  This plan is reviewed and approved by our parent unit Vice President and acts as our project guide annually.
