Amy Williams, Ph.D. 1999 & M.M. 1996
A member of the composition faculty of Northwestern University, Williams is director of New Music Northwestern and associate director of the Northwestern Contemporary Music Ensemble. Previously, she taught at Bennington College and at UB.
Her compositions have been performed throughout the United States and Europe by such leading ensembles as the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, North/South Consonance and the Empyrean Ensemble, and by such soloists as bassist Robert Black. She has also concertized widely as a composer and pianist, and as a member of the Bugallo-Williams Piano Duo. This season, the duo will record its debut CD of Conlon Nancarrow’s complete music for solo piano and piano duets.
