In brief: The museum was established for the dental school centennial in 1992. ÒWilliam Feagans, dean of the dental school at the time, wanted to get a museum up and running,Ó says curator George W. Ferry. ÒIts purpose is to show the public some of the history of dentistry, how instrumentation has evolved and how treatments have evolved over the years.Ó
highlights: The museum owns a 1900 replica of a dental operatory, a traveling dental kit from the mid-19th century and a reclining dental chair from 1865. About 20 countries, including Asian nations, are represented in the international toothpaste collection.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
