Special Thanks
Big Boost for WBFO
Fund to strengthen station's programming, outreach
A gift from the Donald L. Davis Foundation of Amherst has created the Don Davis Auto World Fund from WBFO 88.7 FM, the National Public Radio affiliate operated by UB. The gift-the largest in WBFO history-will allow the station to develop new programming and buy new equipment.
"An endowment for WBFO has been one of our high hopes for a long while," said Jennifer Roth, WBFO general manager. "The Don Davis Auto World Fund will strengthen the station's financial security, and will enable us to continue improving the quality of our programming."
A native of Buffalo who attended UB, Don Davis started the Don Davis Auto World Endowed Lectureship Fund, which supports the university's Distiguished Speaker Series. This annual series has brought many notable figures to campus, including two former U.S. presidents.

Young & married
Gift from UB alumnus, wife to benefit law students

A 1956 graduate of the UB Law School and his wife have made a $116,000 commitment to the school through a charitable remainder trust.

The commitment from Ross and Jeanette Cellino of West Seneca will be used to establish the Ross and Jeanette Scholarship Fund to award scholarships to academically qualified, first year law students who demonstrate significant financial need. Preference will be given to students from Cattaraugus and Chautaugua counties. The scholarship will be awarded each year, over a three-year term, as long as the recipient retains good academic standing.

The Cellinos want the scholarshp to help young, married law school students. Their own personal experience as a young, newly married couple with children when Ross attended law school and worked part-time gave them an understanding of the struggle married students face. By the time Ross graduated from the Law School, three of their nine children had been born.

"This gift is my small contribution to help provide others with the same opportunity I received," Ross Cellino noted.

Ross opened a law partnership in 1959 with Michael Likoudis, also a 1956 graduate of the UB Law School. They were joined in 1967 by Alan Bernstein. The law firm flourished for over 20 years. Ross retired in 1991.
