The UB football program unveiled new uniforms for the 2016 season on Tuesday, all of which prominently feature “Buffalo” on the jerseys.

The uniforms, designed by Nike and manufactured for the Bulls by ADPRO Sports of Buffalo, feature blue, black and white jerseys and white and black pants. “Buffalo,” UB Athletics’ new wordmark, is inscribed on all three jerseys above the numbers across the chest.

The new design for the uniforms reflects the university’s new brand and identity strategy, which has aligned all UB units and schools more closely with the official university name and logo.

The uniforms are part of the Nike Mach Speed System — worn by such programs as Alabama, Clemson, Michigan State and Oklahoma — and incorporate the latest in Nike innovation, as well as a fresh, updated design.

“Anytime you get new uniforms, it’s exciting to see the players’ reactions,” said head coach Lance Leipold. “Having Buffalo on the front of our jerseys is important to us and it will be exciting for our fans as we head into the season. We’re excited to get this thing started.”

“They are great. I really like the simplicity of the uniforms,” said senior cornerback Boise Ross. “We’re really thankful for what we have right now. There’s a lot of things changing with this program. We have a lot to look forward to and we have to thank our donors for all they do to make it happen.”

When the Bulls take the home field on Sept. 2 for their season opener against Albany, they’ll be playing on new turf that’s currently being installed in UB Stadium. The new turf, made of A-Turf Titan, a synthetic surfacing system produced by Western New York-based A-Turf, features the interlocking UB at midfield and “Buffalo” in the end zones.

UB Stadium’s current turf will be repurposed and installed later this summer in Kunz Stadium as part of a larger effort to improve recreational facilities for UB students.

The new basketball court in Alumni Arena — refinished earlier this summer — also reflects the new brand and identify strategy, with the interlocking UB at center court and UB Athletics’ new tagline, “New York’s Public Powerhouse,” along the sidelines.
