The future talent of Western New York's emerging biotech industry will try their hand on UB's supercomputers today as part of an annual program that encourages local high school students to develop skills and interest in the sciences.

New York State Gov. David A. Paterson is partnering with the University at Buffalo to offer a series of events throughout the summer to continue to educate New Yorkers on how to utilize the resources of state during these tough economic times.

Professionals looking to earn their Green Belt certification through an approach that combines online learning with classroom-based instruction may now register for the Green Belt Blended Learning course, offered by UB's Center for Industrial Effectiveness (TCIE) in Fall 2009.

The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present the Buffalo Dance Festival at 8 p.m. on Aug. 1 in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. The inaugural festival will feature LehrerDance and Configuration Dance Theatre.

University at Buffalo Law School held its 120th commencement ceremony on May 23 where nearly 250 students received a J.D. degree and an additional 10 students received a LL.M. degree. Awards were presented to graduates.

The Center for Industrial Effectiveness (TCIE) at the University at Buffalo has awarded certificates to the first graduates of its Green Belt Blended Learning Program, which combines e-learning and classroom-based education.

James Gates Jr., Ph.D., a leading African-American physicist, PBS star and fervent popularizer of science will give a lecture on "The DNA of Reality and its Genome" at 4:30 p.m. today (Friday, April 3, 2009) in 112 Norton Hall on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. The lecture will be free and open to the public.
