Social Work Dean Nancy Smyth has earned the designation
“Best in #SocialWork: 101 Twitter Accounts to Follow”
on MSWOnlinePrograms.org. Smyth’s personal Twitter account,
@njsmyth, is ranked 34th.
The ranking was determined primarily by follower count, with some weight given to frequency and quality of posts, as well as general participation in the online social work conversation.
Smyth’s Twitter account examines the variable definitions and implications of today’s social work profession and how they are constantly being reworked and redefined within online parameters.
Some of these key conversations occur on Twitter, Smyth says.
Many social workers now use that medium to discuss the present
state of the profession, along with current events and their
implications. The cyberspace exchanges illustrate how social work
practices are being transformed by emergent populations, rapidly
developing technology and innovative research.
