Part-human, part-robot cop Alex Murphy is back pursuing justice in corrupt, crime-ridden 2028 Detroit as the undergraduate Student Association’s free outdoor Summer Film Series opens June 24, 25 and 27 with screenings of “Robocop” on the North and South campuses.
Films in the annual series will be shown on Tuesday and Friday nights at Baird Point on the North Campus and on Wednesday nights on the Hayes Hall lawn on the South Campus, with two exceptions: The North Campus screenings for “Robocop” will be moved from Baird Point to the Special Events field near the Student Union to accommodate the Ride for Roswell; the screening that normally would take place on July 4 at Baird Point is being moved to July 3.
All screenings will begin at 9 p.m. through July 30; screenings after that will begin at 8:45 p.m.
In the event of rain, screenings will be moved to the Student Union Theater on the North Campus and Allen Hall on the South Campus.
The screenings, which are co-sponsored by the Office of Student Life, are open to members of the general public, as well as the UB community.
SA also will screen two additional films on Aug. 24 as part of Welcome Back Weekend. “Edge of Tomorrow” will be shown at 8:30 p.m. in the Student Union Theater and “Maleficent” will be shown at 8:30 p.m. at Baird Point.
