Ruth Bryant, assistant dean in the School of Architecture and Planning, has been re-elected secretary of the United Way of New York State Board of Directors. Bryant also has been elected vice chair of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.
Paul Kurtz, professor emeritus of philosophy, received the International Humanist Award from the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) at its 14th World Congress held recently in Mumbai (Bombay) India. IHEU is a federation of more than 100 humanist organizations in 35 countries. Kurtz, cited as being the leading humanist in the world today, has published more than 35 books and hundreds of articles on humanism. He is the founder of Prometheus Books, the largest humanist press in the world; the Council for Secular Humanism, and the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal.
Ramalingam Sridhar, associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been selected to serve as an associate editor for the Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers, published by World Scientific.
Dorothy F. Glass, professor of art history and a distinguished historian of the Italian art of Europe's Middle Ages, has been elected to a three-year term as president of the International Center of Medieval Art (ICMA).
