September 22, 1994: Vol26n3: Isaiah Meggett, 45, health care pioneer Services were held Sept. 10 in Prince of Peace Temple Church of God for Isaiah Meggett, 45, who served as a clinical assistant professor of family medicine at UB. Meggett, a family physician who was on the staff of several area hospitals, died Sept. 5 in Sisters Hospital. A 1974 graduate of the UB medical school, he earned his bachelor's degree at Fisk University, Nashville, Tenn. He served on a committee to recruit minorities for the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and supported many community health care programs, including the Geneva B. Scruggs Community Health Care Center, which he helped found. Meggett,who served on several boards, was medical director and consultant for People, Inc., and recently became an administrative program physician for the Chemical Dependency Unit at Sheehan Memorial Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Karolin; a daughter, Monica I. of Nashville; two sons, Isaac N. Meggett and Carl A. Milsap II; four sisters, June Glenn, Deborah Meggett, Cynthia Meggett and Lorraine Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; and four brothers, Andrew Jr. of Philadelphia, William of San Diego and Joseph and Russell, of Charlotte, N.C.
