Theses to be exhibited

Graduate thesis presentations are on view May 1 through May 30 in the James Dyett Gallery, 334 Hayes Hall, South Campus. The exhibit is presented by the School of Architecture and Planning. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Inflatable sculpture in Lightwell

Takashi Murakami's "Mr. Dob" is a 40-foot-high inflatable sculpture commissioned for the Lightwell Gallery and on view there through July 13. The sculpture, with its cartoon-like design, is both playful and menacing. The Lightwell Gallery is located within the University at Buffalo Art Gallery in the Center for the Arts, North Campus. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday Noon-5 p.m. Admission is free.

New paintings by Sheldon Berlyn

"Sheldon Berlyn: New Work" continues through June 8 in the University at Buffalo Art Gallery, Center for the Arts, North Campus. A concurrent show of Berlyn's new work will be on view April 27 through June 1 at the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University. UB Art Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday Noon-5 p.m. Admission is free.

Center seeks dental implant volunteers

The Periodontal and Implant Research Center is looking for individuals between the ages of 25 and 74 to volunteer for studies they are conducting on dental implants. The center, located in 120 Foster Hall on the South Campus, is part of the School of Dental Medicine's Department of Oral Biology. For information, call the center at 829-2853.

Retirement system seminar

A one-day New York State Employees' Retirement System Seminar will be held June 6 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus. There will be one session for Tier 1 and 2 members, and another for Tier 3 and 4 members. There will be representatives from the Social Security Administration, the Dept. of Civil Service, and the company that administers the New York State Deferred Compensation Program.
