ZODIAQUE, the University at Buffalo's dance company, will present a dance concert titled "Secrecy-dance that conceals and reveals," Feb. 8-18 in the Drama Theatre of the Center for the Arts on UB's North Campus.

Performances will take place Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available for $10 (general admission) and $5 (students and senior citizens). Group rates are available and all tickets are half price on Thursday and on Sunday, Feb. 11.

For ticket information, call the Center for the Arts box office at 645-ARTS.

Linda Swiniuch, director of Zodiaque and professor and chair in the UB Department of Theatre and Dance, said the concert will feature the work of 10 choreographers inspired by the Tarot, ancient cultures, and contemporary characters from the news.

"Some pieces feature masks," said Swiniuch. "Others describe the anatomy of good and evil or the passion and power of the creative process. In each case, the choreographer has approached the concept of 'secrecy' from a different perspective, resulting in works that are, in some cases, dark, in others, joyous and transcendent.

"The musical score is equally varied in theme and style," she said, "employing compositions by Samuel Barber, John Adams, Vangelis, David Van Tiegham and Lukas Foss."

Choreographers are Swiniuch, Tressa Gorman Crehan, Karen Georger, Shelley Hain, Lynn Kurdziel-Formato, Eileen Lambert, Joyce Miller, Tom Ralabate, William E. Thomas and guest choreographer Paraskevi Bournia.

The Company members are Jessica E. Abell, Stacy L. Zawadzki, Debra Pokorski, Kristy Argentieri, Michelle Utzig, Jody Dombrowski, Stacy L. Zawadski, Jill Ann Wolins, Jaimie L. Hollmer, Elizabeth Polito.
