The head coaches of the UB men's and women's basketball teams will offer a preview of the 1995-96 season in a "UB at SUNRISE" breakfast program to be held from 7:30-9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, in the Center for Tomorrow on the UB North Campus.

Tim Cohane of the UB Bulls men's basketball team and Sal Buscaglia of the UB Royals women's basketball team will discuss the new atmosphere of big-time sports at UB and answer questions from the audience.

This season will be Cohane's third at UB. In the 1993-94 season, he led the Bulls to a 10-18 record, doubling UB's 1992-93 win total. Last season, the Bulls had an 18-10 record, recording the most wins by the UB men's basketball team in 30 years. Last year's team finished 12-6 in the Mid-Continent Conference, beat the Big East's Rutgers on their home court and won the Iona Classic.

Buscaglia was named head coach of the UB Royals in July 1990. In his first year, the team posted a 16-11 record, including 7-3 in the Mid-east Conference, both school records. The team that year came within a shot at the buzzer of reaching the Division II NCAA National Tournament. In 1991-92, the Royals, picked to finish last in a pre-season poll, won the East Coast Conference regular-season and post-season titles while posting a 23-6 record, the first time a UB team, male or female, had won 20 games in a season. For his efforts, Buscaglia was named New York State Division I Coach of the Year.

The Royals were 13-13 in 1992-93 and in 1993-94 captured the East Coast Conference Championship with a 20-9 record. Last season, the team tied for the regular season championship in its first year in the Mid-Continent Conference, finishing with a 20-8 record.

"UB at SUNRISE" is produced by the UB Alumni Association and UB's Office of Conferences and Special Events, News Services and Office of Publications. It also is supported by the Office of University Development and the Office for Public Service and Urban Affairs.

The price of the program, which will include a full breakfast, is $9 for UB Alumni Association members and $10 for all others.

For more information, contact the Alumni Association at 829-2608. Ticket orders must be received by Wednesday, Nov. 1.
