Opening Exhibit

3 Printmakers

Show by Rhode Island printmakers Leslie Bostrom, Stephen Fisher, and Nancy Friese, opens today with a reception from 5-7 p.m. in the Art Department Gallery located in the Center for the Arts, North Campus. The show, which includes lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, and mezzotints, continues through Oct. 21. Gallery hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Volo's solo show

Alfonso Volo is a poet and an artist whose work is on view through Nov. 5 in the University Gallery, Center for the Arts, North Campus.

Understanding panic

The Center for Anxiety Research seeks individuals 18 and older who suffer from panic attacks to participate in non-drug treatment research conducted at the center, which is part of the UB Department of Psychology. Those undergoing psychotherapy are not eligible. For information, call Gayle Beck at 645-3650, ext. 337.

Pharmacy "shadow program"

The School of Pharmacy announces a "shadow program" for students considering careers in the field of pharmacy. Students would gain entrÚe to workplaces of UB alumni. The program was initiated by the UB Pharmacy Alumni Association. For information, call the School of Pharmacy Office of Admissions at 645-2825.

Italian conversations

If you wish an Italian conversation you may want to visit the Language Tables in Clemens Hall and the Center for the Arts on the North Campus. These tables will be set up throughout the semester-on Mondays from 10-11 a.m. in 926 Clemens, and on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Cafe. A mathematical competition

Undergraduates are invited to participate in the 56th annual Putnam Mathematical Competition, which will take place Dec. 2. It is the most prestigious competition in mathematics at the undergraduate level in North America. Entry forms and information may be obtained from the Mathematics Undergraduate Office, 119 Diefendorf Hall, South Campus. Deadline for registration is Oct. 6.
