Smoking cessation workshop set

Faculty, staff and students interested in quitting smoking can attend a free smoking cessation workshop sponsored by Wellness Education Services.

The workshop will take place from 4-5 p.m. Feb. 9 in 235 Student Union, North Campus.

Titled “How to Cope Without the Smoke,” the session will highlight ways to cope with stress and socializing without smoking cigarettes. Nnicotine-replacement therapy—patches, gum and lozenges—will be provided free of charge.

Anyone wishing to attend can register at the Life & Learning Workshops website. Go to the spring 2012 workshops schedule and registration page; the workshop can be found on the page for wellness and recreation workshops.

Nominations sought for award

Nominations are being accepted through Feb. 14 for the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service.

The award—first given in 2009—is presented to classified staff members who have consistently demonstrated superlative performance within and beyond their positions.

A nomination form can be found on the Human Resources website.
