SA to offer free films under the stars

The Student Association, in conjunction with the office of Community Relations and Student Life, again is presenting a full slate of movies this summer that members of the university community can enjoy, free of charge, under the stars.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” will open the series next week on the North and South campuses. Films will be shown on Tuesday and Friday nights on the special events field adjacent to the Student Union on the North Campus and on Wednesday nights on the Hayes Hall lawn on the South Campus. Screenings will begin shortly after sundown; viewers are urged to be on site by 9 p.m. through July and by 8:30 p.m. in August.

In the event of rain, screenings will be moved to 112 Norton on the North Campus and Allen Hall on the South Campus.

Viewers are advised to check the films’ ratings before bringing children to the shows.

North Campus: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” May 31 and June 3; “The Adjustment Bureau,” June 7 and June 10; “Hall Pass,” June 14 and June 17; “Rango,” June 21 and June 24; “Paul,” June 28 and July 1; “Battle: Los Angeles,” July 5 and July 8; “Rio,” July 12 and July 15; “Limitless,” July 19 and July 22; “Tron Legacy,” July 26; “Fast Five,” July 29 and Aug. 2; “Arthur,” Aug. 5; “Bridesmaids,” Aug. 9 and Aug. 12; and “Thor,” Aug. 16 and Aug. 19.

South Campus: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” June 1; “The Adjustment Bureau,” June 8; “Hall Pass,” June 15; “Rango,” June 22; “Paul,” June 29; “Battle: Los Angeles,” July 6; “Rio,” July 13; “Limitless,” July 20; “Tron Legacy,” July 27; “Arthur,” Aug. 3; “Bridesmaids,” Aug. 10; and “Thor,” Aug. 17.

The series will conclude with screenings of the four “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. The first installment, “The Curse of the Black Pearl,” will be shown on Aug. 23 on the North Campus; “Dead Man’s Chest” will be shown on Aug. 24 on the South Campus; “At World’s End” will be screened on Aug. 26 on the North Campus; and the current release, “On Stranger Tides,” will be shown on Aug. 28 on the North Campus as part of Opening Weekend activities.
