Deborah Reed-Danahay, professor of anthropology, is serving as president of the Society for the Anthropology of Europe. The SAE is the section of the American Anthropological Association that promotes the anthropological study of European societies and cultures, and encourages connections between scholars working in Europe. Reed-Danahay, whose term runs through 2012, specializes in France, including studies of rural France and the Vietnamese diaspora.

Margaret Wells, director of public services and the Arts and Sciences Libraries, has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Western New York Library Resources Council.

Veetai Li, clinical assistant professor of neurosurgery, has received the Community Recognition Award from the Children’s Guild Foundation. The award is given to a professional in the field of health care. Li also is medical director of pediatric neurosurgery at Women and Children’s Hospital.
