Stephen McKinley Henderson, professor of theatre and dance and Tony-Award nominee, will serve as honorary chairman of Buffalo’s 29th annual Curtain Up! on Sept. 10 opening the 2010 theater season.

Eaton Lattman, research professor in the Department of Structural Biology, has been named a trustee of the Charter School for Applied Technologies.

Mara Huber, founding director of UB’s Center for Educational Collaboration, and Brian White, associate counsel, UB Associates, have been named to Business First of Buffalo’s 19th annual “40 Under Forty” class. The 40 individuals—all under the age of 40—are being recognized for their professional success and community involvement.

The Minority Bar Association of Western New York will present its Education Award to Barbara Sherk, director of academic support, and Lillie Wiley-Upshaw, vice dean for admissions and financial aid, both in the UB Law School, for their work in assisting minority students and their commitments to diversity. Two UB Law School students also will be honored at the association’s 28th annual awards and scholarship dinner on Sept. 16. Third-year student Erica Smith will be honored as the John L. Hargrave Scholarship winner for her demonstrated support of the minority bar group and its mission. Second-year student Duwaine T. Bascoe will be recognized as the winner of the Marie Nesbitt Promise Prize for his scholastic achievements and strong concern for public service and diversity.
