Parking permits available online

Faculty and staff members who register online now for their 2010-11 parking permits can receive the permits by mail before the start of the fall semester.

Current permits expire on Aug. 31.

Online registration is available through MyUB. Users must enter their UBIT name and password to access MyUB and can go to the registration system by clicking on “Campus Living” under “UB Inside and Out”; the “My Parking Permit” link accesses the registration system.

Users must know their vehicle’s plate number, make, model and year, as well as their UB person number, to register. The UB person number is located at the bottom left of an individual’s UB Card. If you have the same vehicle as last year, the information will automatically populate the registration form.

The charge for the permit is $9.65. The Web registration process accepts payments by credit card—Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

Faculty and staff also may obtain their permits in person. Over-the-counter registration will be held in 102 Spaulding Quad, Ellicott Complex, North Campus, or in 104 Harriman Hall, South Campus, beginning in early August.

Anyone with questions or comments regarding the registration process should contact Parking and Transportation Services at 645-3943, or at ub-parking@buffalo.edu.

Dates set for pay raises

University Human Resources has announced the dates some UB unionized employees will receive their next negotiated pay raises.

Staff represented by CSEA and PEF will receive their 4 percent, contractual, retroactive salary increases for the effective dates of April 1-28 in the paycheck dated Aug. 4. This will include any overtime that is due.

Twelve-month faculty and professional staff members represented by UUP will receive their 4 percent contractual salary increase, effective July 8, in the check dated Aug. 4. The 4 percent raise will be based on the employee’s annual salary on July 1, 2010. To be eligible to receive the raise, employees must have been on the payroll by July 1.

Questions may be directed to Karen Bauer, payroll manager, at 645-4448 or kbauer2@buffalo.edu, or payroll examiners Melissa Barone at mbarone@buffalo.edu, Roseann Brzozowiec at rbrzozow@buffalo.edu, Cheryl Delano at cadelano@buffalo.edu, Elaine Hines at ehines@buffalo.edu, Joanne Intorre at jintorre@buffalo.edu or Kathy Sears at ksears@buffalo.edu.

Employees warned of phishing

UB’s Information Security Office is warning members of the university community about a new phishing attempt to obtain UBIT usernames and passwords.

Faculty and staff should remember that no one from UBIT would ever ask for this kind of information via e-mail; it is against university policy.

Employees who have responded to such a request should change their passwords immediately.
