  • Domestic violence policy established

UB has developed a “Domestic Violence in the Workplace” policy to provide guidance on how to respond effectively to the needs of victims of domestic violence and the appropriate actions that should be taken to keep employees safe from domestic violence-related incidents.

Many victims of domestic violence are employed, and while most incidents of violence usually occur within the home, violence can carry over into the workplace in many ways, according to Donna Scuto, assistant vice president for policy and internal control. In fact, 75 percent of domestic violence victims face harassment from intimate partners while at work, which may threaten their safety and the safety of their co-workers, Scuto points out.

UB will investigate all acts of domestic violence occurring on campus. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP); University Police; State and Research Foundation Benefits Administration; Equity, Diversity and Affirmative Action Administration; and Employee Relations are available to support those in need of assistance concerning domestic violence.
