  • Though they have good food in several categories, Brennan’s (4401 Transit Road, Williamsville) is all about atmosphere—a bit Irish, a bit big-city U.S. and a bit hometown Buffalo. It’s busy and informal, and a great place to relax and let go.

  • Shango (3260 Main St., Buffalo), within walking distance from my office on the South Campus. After a long week, it’s nice to treat yourself to their fantastic food and beverage selection.

  • Mother’s on Virginia Place in Buffalo’s Allentown section. It is warm, welcoming and fun, and Sam the bartender is terminally nice.
