UB employees represented by CSEA, M/C, UUP, DC-37 and PEF now have another confidential resource-and-referral service.
NYS Balance is a new statewide benefit to help employees and their families deal with work, financial, health and well-being issues. The benefit replaces Lifeworks, but does not replicate the local services employees already receive from UB’s Employee Assistance Program and the Wellness and Work/Life Balance unit in University Human Resources.
Employees can contact a NYS Balance consultant and describe the services they need. The consultant does the research and provides a list of resources and referrals. Employees also may search the NYS Balance Web site (username: nys; password: balance) for information on a wide range of work and life issues.

The Professional Staff Senate Web site has undergone several improvements to allow for better communication among professional staff members.
The “Toolbox” in the right-hand column of the home page provides a new and easy way to share information. Staff can click on "Submit Ideas or
Content for the PSS Web Site" to bring up a form that can be filled out and submitted. Those submitting ideas or content should allow a five-day turnaround for updates to the Web site.
Staff interested in promoting an event or activity to professional colleagues can click on "PSS Connect Discussion List" from within the Toolbox and send an email to the PSS listserv.
A new session of the Collaborative Performance Management Program (CPM), a training program to help UB managers refine their skills and improve their ability to manage employee performance, is being offered in January by the Office of Organizational Development and Training in University Human Resources.
The program features instructor-led workshops and self-paced online sessions, as well as opportunities to network with other UB managers.
