The goal of UB's UNITY interactive art project was to create a "canopy of interconnectedness."
The event, sponsored by the Intercultural and Diversity Center, was based on a similar project launched by Nancy Belmont last June in Alexandria, Virginia.

UB’s UNITY project was organized by the Diversity Advocates at the Intercultural and Diversity Center in an attempt, according to IDC associate director Terri Budek, to “counter the divisiveness and negativity of our country’s national political conversation.”
