UB’s behind-the-scenes television series, “UB Football Insider: Training Camp Edition,” was nominated for two Emmy Awards, the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday.

“UB Football Insider: Training Camp Edition” was nominated for an Emmy in both the Sports: Daily or Weekly Program and the Sports: Program Series categories. Nominated alongside productions from the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills, UB was the only collegiate program to receive a nomination.

“This nomination is a credit to the student-athletes and our entire athletics staff. We are truly blessed to get to work in such a great environment like college athletics,” says Boone Enser, associate athletics director for communications and broadcasting. “The broadcasting and communications group inside athletics is extremely creative and embraces collaboration like no other staff that I’ve worked with in my 30 years of storytelling.”

“UB Football Insider: Training Camp Edition,” which aired on WGRZ-TV, took an in-depth, all-access look at the Bulls’ preseason preparation for the 2017 football campaign. It followed key players from the UB football team as they balanced practice, workouts and meetings in preparation for the season.

“We are excited to be nominated in two categories going up against major-market professional sports teams,” Enser says. “This is a documentary project that I have wanted to produce for several years. Thanks to Coach Leipold, his staff and the entire UB football program for allowing us this unprecedented insider access.”

The 61st Annual New York Emmy Awards will be presented on April 14 at The Marriott Marquis ~ Times Square.
