DOMA to be topic of UB Law event

Published October 24, 2013

The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) will be the topic of a discussion at the UB Law School on Nov. 14.

The free event, sponsored by the student groups Phi Alpha Delta and OUTLaw, will take place at 5 p.m. in 107 O’Brian Hall, North Campus.

Michael Boucai, associate professor of law, and other UB Law faculty members will discuss DOMA, the DOMA litigation and the U.S. v. Windsor opinion, which found that the section of DOMA that defined “marriage” and “spouse” as applying only to heterosexual unions was unconstitutional. They also will talk about future litigation and Congressional action.
