Learn the finer points of Frisbee golf or take a spin in a canoe on Lake LaSalle. Cap off an outdoor yoga class with a frozen yogurt pop. Or just enjoy a picnic lunch on a green, snow-free lawn.

Those are just some of the activities planned for Warm Weather Wednesdays, a new offering of the annual UBThisSummer program of courses, workshops, lectures and other events.

Warm Weather Wednesdays, which are free and open to all UB students, faculty, staff and the broader Western New York community, showcase activities that take advantage of what may well be the best time of year to experience the UB campus.

Events take place on Wednesdays, starting with UB Chalkfest on May 28 and running through Aug. 6 on the North Campus. See related story for the full list of activities.

Warm Weather Wednesdays join a traditional UBThisSummer lineup of credit-bearing courses, non-credit workshops, lectures, entertainment events and youth camps that offers something for everyone.

The class schedule for summer 2014 is now available, providing hundreds of courses for current UB students who want to work toward their degree, study abroad or take advantage of internship opportunities. Students who attend other colleges and universities can take courses as non-matriculating students, and incoming UB freshmen can get a jump on prerequisite and general education courses.

High school students also are welcome to take a course and get a taste of the college curriculum.

A variety of workshops offers informal learning opportunities on topics ranging from dance instruction and music education to a 10-night trip to Yellowstone National Park.

And a full slate of youth camps will enable children to learn, play and make new friends. In addition to the traditional sports camps offered by UB Athletics, the lineup includes Summer Strings music camp; Literacy, Science, Technology & Drama Camp; Field Ecology Adventures; and summer camps offered by the Early Childhood Research Center and UB Child Care Center.

The popular UBThisSummer Lecture Series is back for another season, with prominent faculty members sharing their knowledge on a variety of subjects, all centered on this year’s theme of “innovation.” See related story for a full lecture schedule.

More information on all programs can be found on the UBThisSummer website.
