“I’m overwhelmed by the generosity, dedication and caring of the UB community. Again, you’ve stepped up and made a difference in the lives of people in our own backyard, and far beyond. ”

2013 Employees Campaign for the Community

The final numbers are in, and UB has exceeded its goal for the 2013 Employees Campaign for the Community.

The final tally of $858,000 is $8,000 over the goal of $850,000 and $23,303 more than the $834,697 raised in the 2012 campaign.

Austin Booth, vice provost for university libraries who served as chair of the 2013 campaign, thanked all who contributed to the campaign and the liaisons who directed the campaign in their individual departments.

“I’m overwhelmed by the generosity, dedication and caring of the UB community,” Booth said. “Again, you’ve stepped up and made a difference in the lives of people in our own backyard, and far beyond.”

The continuing success of the campaign, she noted, “reinforces UB’s commitment to service and engaging with the community.”

The campaign provides the means for all UB employees to contribute to qualified, nonprofit charitable organizations rendering services to health, welfare and recreational programs throughout the region, state and world.

UB employees have raised nearly $18 million for the community since the campaign started in 1976 as part of the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA). UB’s campaign has been praised as the most successful one of its kind in New York State and one of the most successful in the country.
