UB Relay For Life is partnering with Campus Dining & Shops to sell purple ribbon cookies to benefit the relay and raise funds to fight cancer.

The sale is underway through April 27 at Whispers at Capen, Whispers at Abbott, Perk’s, Capen Café, Bert’s, Putnam’s, Pistachio’s, Ellicott Food Court, Harriman and Corner Café. Cookies cost $2 each, with 50 cents of each sale going to the relay.

UB Relay for Life, one of 6,000 such events worldwide, is an annual event in which individuals and teams camp out and take turns walking or running around a track “relay-style” to raise funds to fight cancer. At nightfall, participants light hundreds of luminaria around the track to honor cancer survivors, as well as remember those who have died from the disease.

UB Relay for Life will begin at 6 p.m. April 27 in the Student Union and run through 2 a.m. on April 28. More information about the event and how to donate can be found on the event website.
