Online registration is now open for the 27th annual Linda Yalem Safety Run, the annual 5K run held on the North Campus to promote personal safety and remember UB student Linda Yalem.

This year the run will take place on Sept. 25.

Registration is $30 for the general public and $20 for UB students. Registration fees support rape-prevention and safety awareness programming at UB.

The Yalem run is one of UB’s enduring traditions. Each year, the university welcomes more than 1,200 runners and walkers, and more than 600 volunteers. The race is also an official qualifying race for the Buffalo News Runner of the Year series.

It honors the memory of Yalem, a UB student who was raped and murdered in September 1990 on the Amherst Bike Path while training for the New York City Marathon.
