Theatre & Dance to present ‘Legally Blonde’

The Department of Theatre & Dance will present “Legally Blonde,” the musical based on the 2001 movie starring Reese Witherspoon, Nov. 19-22 and Dec. 3-6 in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

With music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and book by Heather Hach, “Legally Blonde” was a surprise hit, both in theaters and then on Broadway, where it ran for more than 600 performances.

The UB production features a live orchestra and newly designed and executed sets, lights and costumes. It is directed and choreographed by Keith Andrews, a faculty member at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, with music direction by Nathan Matthews, UB associate professor and director of music theatre.

The cast is comprised of students from the UB Department of Theatre & Dance.

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students from any school and seniors, and may be purchased at the Center for the Arts box office and at tickets.com.
