Rioult Dance NY, the modern dance company that showcases the works of former Martha Graham principal dancer Pascal Rioult, will be in residence at UB April 6-11.

The residency will conclude with a performance by the company at 8 p.m. April 11 in the Mainstage theater in the Center for the Arts, North Campus. Members of the company will take part in a pre-performance talk at 7:15 p.m.

Rioult Dance NY has grown tremendously since it began in 1994 in the New York City apartment of Pascal Rioult, a former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, and his wife, former Martha Graham dancer Joyce Herring. To date, Rioult has created more than 40 dances, presented 20 New York seasons and toured Europe and North America.

Rinoult Dance is the latest dance company to be in residence at UB. Since 1997, the Center for the Arts has conducted more than 16 professional dance outreach projects to provide arts education for more than 27,000 local school children — primarily in the city of Buffalo. These students have the opportunity to experience live professional dance performances in their schools, free of charge, by some of the world’s finest companies.

UB dance majors also benefit from the master classes taught by members of these professional dance companies.

Tickets for the April 11 public performance, sponsored by M&T Bank, are $31.50 for general admission and $13.50 for students from any school. They may be purchased at the CFA box office and at tickets.com.

The performance is made possible through a gift from the Bernice Poss Memorial Fund, established in memory of Bernice L. Poss, a 23-year UB employee who was active in the community.
