When you leave UB

Those retiring from UB are eligible to keep their UBmail for Faculty and Staff accounts. Others may be eligible for a UBmail for Students account (Gmail).

UB retirees

Prior to retiring, contact your department’s IT support staff to inform them of your pending retirement.

  • You must log into your UBmail for faculty and staff account at least once every 90 days to keep it active.
  • If you fail to log in within 90 days and want to reactivate your UBmail for faculty and staff account, contact the UBIT Help Center. They will re-create your UBmail for faculty and staff account with the same email address, but none of your previously saved email messages can be recovered.

Former employees who are UB alumni

You are eligible for UBmail for students.  Contact your support staff before you leave UB to have them request your email be switched to UBmail for students.

Former UB medical residents

You are eligible for UBmail for students. Opt in through the Alumni Association. After your new mailbox is created, move any messages you want to keep to your new mailbox. Former medical residents then follow the rules for UB alumni email.
