UB WebApps

New!

The WebApps platform is a work in progress. If our solution has not accounted for all your needs, please feel free to request a technical consultation through the UBIT Help Center. We will continue to adjust and improve the environment as needs and problems are identified.

UB WebApps is a webhosting service provided for Web developers maintaining official UB academic or administrative websites. This service provides the ability to develop Web applications using various languages and connect to database services.

Available languages are Java, PHP, Ruby, Perl, Python, NodeJS and .Net.

The UB WebApps Environment

Access is provided to a Linux Container that is built off of OpenShift. You will have access to a GIT repository for file management/versioning.

Customers have the ability to create additional containers/environments as they see fit. We recommend that additional containers/environments be created to use for testing and/or development.

Access

Direct (S)FTP access to the containers is not available. However, a CLI utility is available that provides more advanced features such as rsh and rsync. Please ensure that you fully understand what these commands do and how they can affect your container if you choose to use them.

The utility is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac. Documentation and the installer for the utility can be accessed at https://docs.openshift.org/latest/cli_reference/index.html.

Customers have the ability to add libraries/modules to their environments/containers but are unable to add/modify system software.
