UBlearns requires an internet connection, a supported browser with pop-up blockers disabled and plugins for PDF, multimedia and audio files.

Connect to the Internet

Using Blackboard on requires a computer that is connected to the Internet and a supported web browser.

Use a Supported Browser

It is recommended that you use an up-to-date Web browser. UB supported software recommendations are available on the UB Software Downloads site.

Blackboard technical support offers a list of certified and compatible browsers for use with Blackboard.

Have the Required Plug-ins and Players

Special plug-ins or players may be needed to view files such as PDFs, sound, video and multimedia (e.g., QuickTime, Windows Media, Flash). These plug-ins and players are available from the UB Software Downloads site.

Enable Java and Disable Pop-up Blockers

In order to use all features of UBlearns, Java must be enabled and pop-up blockers need to be disabled on your Web browser. Check your browser’s help to determine how to do this.

If you need basic information about setting up your computer or computer specifications, go to UBIT New Student Orientation.
