Find answers to frequently asked questions about the Digital
Dropbox, editing Notification settings and linking to items in the
Libraries' Course Reserve and databases.
A PDF of the enhancements in Blackboard Learn version 9.1 is
available for download.
The Digital Drop Box tool is no longer available; instructors should use the Assignment tool to manage student submissions. The Assignment tool allows instructors to create assignments with single, multiple or unlimited submissions. Submissions are then found in, and downloaded from the grade center.
Instructors may also wish to share information on Assignment submissions with students (from the UBlearns for Students help site).
You cannot link directly to items listed in the UB Libraries Course Reserve system. You can point your students to the Libraries' Course Reserve website and they can search for and link to the item from there.
It is possible, in many cases, to link directly to an article or item available in one of the libraries’ 300+ databases. You may also choose to download an article and post it in your course. See Adding an item.
If you locate an item in a library database to which you would like to link, look for something to indicate a PURL (persistent uniform resource locator). These may be called Permalink, Stable URL, Durable URL, “bookmark this article” or something similar. If a PURL is not obvious, you can try copying the URL from the address bar.
Students off campus may not be able to access the item. Always give the full citation of the item and point the students to the libraries' E-journals page and the Libraries Catalog to begin their search. This will force them through the proxy authentication pages and they will be able to link to the item from off network.
