Setting Up a Computer for UBlearns

Connect to the Internet

To use Blackboard on UBlearns, use a computer that is connected to the Internet and use a web browser.

Use a supported browser

It is recommended that you use an up-to-date Web browser. UB supported software recommendations are available on the UB Software Downloads site.

Blackboard technical support offers a list of certified and compatible browsers, listed by system OS, for use with Blackboard.

Have the required software and plug-ins

Special plug-ins or players may be needed to view files such as: PDF, sound, video and multimedia file formats (e.g., QuickTime, Windows Media, Flash). These plug-ins and players are available from the UB Software Downloads site.

Enable Java and disable popup blockers

In order to use all features of UBlearns, Java must be enabled and pop-up blockers need to be disabled on your Web browser. Check your browser’s help to determine how to do this.

If you need basic information about setting up your computer or computer specifications go to UBIT New Student Orientation.
