Find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about clickers.

Where can I purchase my clicker?

Clickers can be purchased from the University Bookstore, the Turning Technologies Store or from some online vendors such as Amazon or eBay.

Can I sell back my clicker?

The bookstore will buy back used clickers from students until the bookstore quota has been reached.

Where do I find my clicker Device ID?

The six-digit Device ID is located on the back on your ResponseCard XR under the bar code. It uses the numbers 0 through 9 and sometimes the letters A through F.

What kind of battery does clicker use?

The ResponseCard XR uses two AAA batteries. A small Phillips screwdriver is needed to open the battery compartment.

Can I share my clicker with a friend?

No, we suggest you do not share with a friend. After you register your clicker on UBlearns, your name is matched with the Device ID. When you respond during class, your Device ID is bound with your name. Your instructor is then able to connect your name, Device ID and your responses together.

What should I do if my clicker screen shows "Not Accepting Answers"?

Are you on the correct channel?

  • Check to see if your ResponseCard is on the correct channel of the classroom you are using. If not, please change to the correct channel.

Have you registered your clicker?

  • You must register your clicker for responses to be recorded

Is your clicker firmware updated?

  • You need to check if your clicker firmware is updated.

If you are not able to respond, please wait for a few seconds and respond again. You can also take out the battery and put it back in to reset your clicker.

What should I do if my clicker screen freezes?

Please try to unscrew the screw at the back of your clicker, take out the battery and put it back in to reset your clicker. If it still doesn't work, please contact the bookstore where you bought it.

What do I do if I lose my clicker?

You can purchase a replacement clicker from the University Bookstore. You must register your new clicker in UBlearns. Be sure to inform your instructors that you've purchased and registered your replacement clicker.

What if I have a different brand (not TurningPoint ResponseCard XR) of clicker?

You can only register TurningPoint ResponseCard XR on the UBlearns web site. Please speak to your instructor to register the other brand.

Why does the old ResponseCard RF flash different colors?

  • Green: Confirmation that the RF Receiver has received a response from the ResponseCard.
  • Orange: The ResponseCard is sending a signal and waiting for confirmation from the RF Receiver.
  • Red: Response not received by the RF Receiver.
  • Green and Red: In Channel Changing mode.

What do I do if my old RF clicker has a constant yellow light?

Your batteries are probably low and should probably be replaced.
