Using the Teaching Station DVD or VHS Player in the Technology Classroom

VHS players are being retired at the end of the Spring 2018 semester. Learn about VHS copying and alternatives >

1. Press DVD or VHS on the left-hand side of the touch panel.

2. Turn on the DVD or VHS player by pressing either the red Power button in the upper left-hand corner of the touch panel or the Power button on the player itself.

The Display button puts the time and function on-screen.

3. Control play, pause and fast forward with the touch screen.  

Common Questions

Why is there no video image projected?

The projecter must be turned on with light coming out of it before the VCR or DVD input is selected. Press Internal PC, wait a few seconds and press VCR or DVD input.

Why will the DVD drawer not open?

Press Internal PC, wait a few seconds and press DVD input.  

My VHS picture is shaky. How do I adjust the tracking?

  • Adjust tracking manually by pressing the Tracking up and down arrow buttons
  • To re-engage auto-tracking, remove and then re-insert the tape

Which DVD formats can be played?

  • DVD, CD, MP3 and JPEG, but not VCD
  • Region 0 and 1 DVD's only. Multi Format and Multi Region is not supported.

Which VHS formats can be played?

  • Standara NTSC playback
  • PAL is not supported
