(Mac) I get an error saying the downloaded file is "from an unidentified developer."

If you see this error when trying to open software you downloaded from UB, it means your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac Apple Store and identified developers. Learn how to add an exception so you may continue to install the software.

  1. Click OK on the warning box
  2. Find the downloaded file with your Finder ([Your Computer Name] > Downloads)
  3. Ctrl+Click on the downloaded file
  4. Click Open
  5. A dialog box appears: "[Software name] is from an unidentified developer. Are you sure you want to open it?"
  6. Click Open
  7. Continue to follow the steps on the screen to install the software
