When I click on the "launch the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client" link, when I want to connect to My Virtual Computing Lab, it says I have to choose a program to open the "rdp" file

This can happen when you are using a browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer when you click the link (IE automatically launches the correct program).

When using Internet Explorer:

  1. Select “Open this file”
  2. For “Open with…” browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories and select the Remote Desktop Connection shortcut.
  3. Select Always use this program for this type of file (the exact language will vary depending on your browser).

If you cannot locate the program shortcut, you may also choose to save the file (named ubvcl.rdp) to your desktop or some familiar location, and then locate it with Windows Explorer and double-click it to launch the Remote Desktop Connection program.
