Making your Internet connection with the AnyConnect virtual private network (VPN) client protects your UBITName and password, and any of the information you are sending or receiving as you work with My Virtual Computing Lab. On-campus connections to My Virtual Computing Lab through the UB Secure Wi-Fi network or the wired ResNet and OpenPort networks are already secure, so using a VPN is unnecessary.

If you were working in the Windows RemoteApp view, only the latest saved version of your work will be available, just as if you were working on a file normally. If you were working with any other (remote desktop) connection methods, your work can be recovered. Reconnect to My Virtual Computing Lab immediately, and your work will still be there.
