In order to install Mathematica, you need to first request the activation key from the vendor. The key will be emailed to your UB email address. You can then install the software.

1. Go to the Wolfram Activation Key Request Form
2. Enter your UB email address in the Login With Wolfram ID field. Select Continue without signing in.
3. In the Activation Key Request form:
   • Enter your first name, last name and UB email address in their respective fields.
   • Select Mathematica for for Sites (Single Machine) from the Select a Product dropdown if you are installing on a single computer. Select Network Mathematica for Sites (MathLM) for network installs.
   • Select Macintosh in the Platform dropdown.
4. Click Submit. The activation key will be sent to your UB email address.
5. Click the Download Mathematica from UB for UB-Owned Compters for UB-Owned Computers button, above.
6. Open the zip file mac_Staff-Mathematica8.0.4.zip. This will reveal two more zipped files, mac_Staff-Mathematica8.0.4.zip and Extras.pkg.zip.

1. Open the zip file mac_Staff-Mathematica8.0.4.zip. This will create a Mathematica.app icon in the same folder.
2. Click the Mathematica.app icon and drag it into your Applications folder.
3. Navigate to your Applications folder and double-click Mathematica.app.folder.
4. A warning will appear about opening Mathematica. Click Open.
5. A warning about accepting incoming connections will appear. Click Allow.
6. The Wolfram Mathematica icon should appear in your Dock. Click it to reveal the activation window. Enter the activation key that was sent to your UB email address and click Activate.
7. You must accept the terms of the license agreement to activate Mathematica. Select I accept the terms of this agreement and click OK.

1. Return to the folder mac_Staff-Mathematica8.0.4.
2. Open the other zip file, Extras.pkg.zip to reveal the .pkg file.
3. Double-click Extras.pkg. The launcher window will open.
4. Click Continue.
5. Click Install.
6. The installation is complete. You may need to close and re-start your browser.
