Installing Identity Finder Desktop for Windows

These instructions are for installation of the Desktop version for personally owned computers.

  1. When you download Identity Finder, it comes zipped. Double-click on the Win_IDF_desktop.zip file then double-click on IdentityFinder-Custom.msi to begin the installation.
  2. An Unknown Publisher warning will appear. Ignore the warning and click Run.
  3. The Identity Finder Setup Wizard will launch. Click Next.
  4. Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next.
  5. Select Anyone who uses the computer and click Typical.
  6. Click Install. Installation may take a few minutes.
  7. The Setup Wizard will finish running. Select Launch Identity Finder and click Finish.
  8. Register the product with your name and email address at UB. Click Finish.
  9. Deselect Yes, I am willing to anonymously participate in Customer Experience and click OK.
  10. Create a password to access Identity Finder and enter it in the Enter Password field. For security reasons, this should be different from your UBIT password and your computer's password. Enter your Identity Finder password again in the Confirm Password field.
  11. Your profile password is now set. Click OK.
  12. Identity Finder is ready to run. Choose either Start Search Now, Continue Search Wizard or Open Advanced Interface.
