AnyConnect: Macintosh Download for UB-Owned Computers

AnyConnect is Virtual Private Network (VPN) software. A VPN is required to securely connect to UB services from off campus, such as My Virtual Computing Lab and UBfs Myfiles.

Note: This software can be downloaded multiple times and does not limit the number of downloads.

Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) - 10.10 (Yosemite)

Installation Instructions

  1. Download AnyConnect.
  2. Double click on the AnyConnect software icon.
  3. Double click on the AnyConnect drive on the Desktop.
  4. Double click on the AnyConnect.pkg file.

    NOTE: If you are using Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion), you may also need to:
       4a. Ctrl-click the application in question and choose Open.
       4b. Click Open at the next dialog warning to launch the app.

  5. Click Continue on the Welcome screen.
  6. Click Continue on the Software License Agreement.
  7. Click Agree to accept the software license agreement.

    NOTE: Do NOT install Web Security, Diagnostic Reporting Tool or Posture packages.

  8. Click Install on the Standard Install screen.
  9. Enter your UBITName password to authorize the installation.
  10. Click Close to complete the installation.

Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)

Installation Instructions

  1. Download AnyConnect.
  2. Double click on the AnyConnect software icon.
  3. Double click on the AnyConnect drive on the Desktop.
  4. Double click on the AnyConnect.pkg file.
  5. Click Continue on the Welcome screen.
  6. Click Continue on the Software License Agreement.
  7. Click Agree to accept the software license agreement.

    NOTE: Do NOT install Web Security, Diagnostic Reporting Tool or Posture packages.

  8. Click Install on the Standard Install screen.
  9. Enter your UBITName password to authorize the installation.
  10. Click Close to complete the installation.

Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Installation Instructions

  1. Download AnyConnect.
  2. Double click on the AnyConnect software icon.
  3. Double click on the vpn drive on the Desktop.
  4. Double click on the Packages folder.
  5. Double click on the vpn.pkg file.
  6. Click Continue to all the package to determine if the software can be installed.
  7. Do NOT install dart.pkg, posture.pkg or websecurity.pkg files.
  8. Click Continue on the Welcome screen.
  9. Click Continue on the Software License Agreement.
  10. Click Agree to accept the software license agreement.
  11. Click Install on the Standard Install screen.
  12. Enter your password to authorize the installation.
  13. Click Close to complete the installation.

Using AnyConnect

Requirements

  • You must be located off campus and first establish a connection to the Internet through your Internet Service Provider (ISP), such as Time Warner or Verizon
  • You must use Mac OS X 10.5 - 10.10 (choose the appropriate download for your OS)
  • You can run AnyConnect from a foreign country, but only if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is not running a proxy server.

Eligibility

AnyConnect for UB-Owned computers can be downloaded by UB faculty or staff onto UB-owned computers.

AnyConnect may be subject to the U.S. Export Administration Regulations and other U.S. law, and may not be exported or re-exported to certain countries or to persons or entities prohibited from receiving U.S. exports. You are responsible for using AnyConnect in accordance with the requirements of U.S. law, and you hereby certify that you will comply with all export laws and restrictions and regulations of the Department of Commerce or other United States authority, and not export or allow the re-export of AnyConnect in violation of any such restrictions, laws or regulations.
