Symantec EndPoint Protection

Keep your computer safe. Use Symantec EndPoint AntiVirus to protect against viruses and Trojans.

Symantec EndPoint Protection cannot be installed if another anti-virus program is on your computer, including Norton AntiVirus.

License Agreement

By downloading the software, you confirm that you have read the license agreement and you agree to and acknowledge the terms of the license agreement. You understand that sharing the software with others is an offense.

This software cannot be downloaded and stored in a shared file space.

Download Eligibility

This software is available to UB Students, Faculty, and Staff that meet the following requirements:

  • UB students who have paid the Comprehensive fee
  • All UB Faculty
  • Faculty Student Association employees
  • Geographic Full time Faculty
  • UB State employees (UUP, CSEA, MC, PEF)
  • Sub-Board I (SBO) employees
  • Research Foundation employees at UB
  • UB Foundation employees

Uninstalling Norton AntiVirus

If you have Norton AntiVirus or any other anti-virus product you must uninstall it before installing Symantec EndPoint AntiVirus.

  1. Double-click your Macintosh HD on your desktop and select the Applications folder.
  2. Select Symantec Solutions, then Symantec Uninstaller.
  3. In the Uninstall Symantec Products window, select the box next to Norton AntiVirus Application and click Uninstall.
  4. In the Confirm window, click Uninstall.
  5. Re-start your computer.

Installing Symantec EndPoint Protection AntiVirus

  1. Double-click the SymantecEndpoint_12_1_2015.zip file.
  2. Double-click Symantec EndPoint Protection.mpkg.
  3. The package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed. Click Continue.
  4. Symantec EndPoint Protection installer will launch. Click Continue.
  5. Review the information about Symantec EndPoint Protection, then click Continue.
  6. Review the important information from Symantec, then click Continue.
  7. You must agree to the terms of the License Agreement in order to install Symantec EndPoint Protection AntiVirus. Click Continue. Click Agree.
  8. Select Unmanaged then click Continue.
  9. Installation requires 194.9 MB of space. Provided you have enough free space on your computer, click Install.
  10. Enter your computer's administrator password then click OK.
  11. Close any other software that you may have open on your computer then click Continue Installation.
  12. Symantec EndPoint Protection AntiVirus will install. Once installation is complete, click Log Out.
  13. Log in and run LiveUpdate immediately.
